Practical Packet Capture Files For Students.
The goal of this exercise is to show students real network traffic so, they can see how network protocols work.
Methodology.
I have put together some packet captures from this web server and other devices on my LAN (Local Area Network) in an attempt to show my students how certain protocols work in the wild. I have chosen some network protocols that require you to leverage tools like Wireshark to gain a more practical understanding of how a network works. I have chosen the following network protocols: http, https, icmp, and smb which are commonly found in just about every network I can think of. I did not run these packet captures in an Active Directory environment because I don't have one at home, lol. These .pcap files were captured using Tcpdump from the Linux/UNIX command line.
The File.
The Zip archive contains no malware inside it if you do find anything suspicious please let me know! There are some questions in a text file for you to answer. Good luck!
